Adam Egli and his wife Danielle were in desperate times after Adam returned from Iraq with a concussion, a ruptured tendon in his thigh, a fractured kneecap, and multiple shrapnel wounds. He needed four reconstructive surgeries and two additional procedures to clean out the shrapnel. If medical bills were not enough, a tree fell through their roof and they were left without a home.
The young couple did not know where to turn and they worried for the future of their three young children. They decided to move in with Adam’s parents and Danielle applied for the Military Warriors Support Foundation program. After two years, the MWSF placed Adam, Danielle, and their three children in a mortgage-free home.
This home is the ultimate sense of comfort, security, and relief. Adam said it’s “like a financial burden off of us.”
Danielle said, “I’ve been speechless forever. Since he got out it’s been so rough and we’re going to be like a normal family again.”
Because of the MWSF, Adam and Danielle have a fresh head start and a brighter future for their children. This couple, along with hundreds of other families, were hugely impacted by the charitable work of the MWSF.
The Military Warriors Support Foundation is a non-profit charity founded by Lt. General Leroy Sisco in 2007. Their mission is to “provide support for our nation’s combat wounded heroes and Gold Star Families as they transition out of the military and into their new civilian life.” The MWSF provides programs that facilitate a smooth transition into civilian life and include home donation, academic and employment assistance, and recreational activities.
Through their Homes4WoundedWarriors program, they award 100% free mortgage homes to combat wounded veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan. Through their CEOs4Heroes and Skills4Life programs, they have developed partnerships with several top-named companies who are committed to giving veterans good-paying, career-oriented, jobs; they also offer family getaways, golf outings, hunting and fishing trips for hundreds of heroes and their families.
